Stillwater 14th Annual Boat Race

Back from a much needed get away at Stillwater. Part work, part play. Saturday was the 14th annual boat race and a great turn out! Joe Romano, in his angry eyed, fire engine red boat won. This year only three entries as the boaters from Pennsylvania ended up a no show. Marian out did her self with the buffet making all the salads from scratch and the pig roasting team from Rochester slow roasted the most succulent pig ever! A bag piper piped the opening escorting the boaters to their boats. I played a two hour gig on the deck, relieved that Roland lived to amplify me another day. His days are numbered. I'm holding out for the Bose system. Bill and I left the festivity early to hang with Chet Kincaid on his gorgeous front veranda and listen to the woes of Adirondack camp and zoning nightmares while in the presence of Stillwater's most serene and peaceful vista. A mirror lake dotted with wilderness islands and silvery reflections of the sun going down under an over cast gray sky. An occasional loon would sweeten the pot with her lonely and haunting cry. I am very lucky and grateful to have such wonderful friends, who treat Bill and I like family when every we come for our Stillwater fix. After Chets, we wandered back to Marian's camp and crashed early. I love being a morning glory person as I age but learned the next day that I missed quite a party the night before with the Renegades playing till midnight and the Cowboys from campsite 3 in rare dancing form. Shirts off...enough said! What goes on at Stillwater STAYS in Stillwater. Oh and for those of you reading this and searching for more dirt on my son. Well he's still getting his education in the Wampsville school of hard knocks. He's fine. Being in jail is like putting blinders on him reining him in for once. He's reading book after book. Writing and sketching. He's quit smoking cigarettes and feels good enough not to take the meds they gave him in rehab. I only had two meltdowns over the weekend over the fact that I have a kid in jail but I'm hanging tough. What else can you do?
